US: World's leadership in new wind turbines

In 2007, wind was already one of the fastest growing sources of electricity in the US. The latest ranking of the top five countries concerning the installed power of wind turbines shows: USA is the world’s number two. In building up new wind turbines the US is the world’s leader. Wind turbines with 17000 megawatts are currently installed. They generate electricity to serve 4.25 Million households that’s a City like Chicago (1 megawatt powers 250 households).
